March Happenings ᯓ★🌁
Cloud Cafe is here!
Happy Spring, friends!
It is a time for a breath of fresh air and to welcome a new season of splendor! The flowers are here, the snow is gone (hopefully?), and it is a time for rebirth and refreshment.
Take a second to walk outside, admire some trees, maybe even take a step into the ocean. You won’t regret it!
Also, Women’s History Month is upon us! It includes International Women’s Day on March 8th.
So to kick the month off, here are some facts about a few inspirational women:
Marie Van Brittan Brown was a scientist who invented the first home security system in 1966. She utilized microphones, cameras, electronically controlled locks. This was the first iteration of any home security, and it would later give the foundation for the world renowned CCTV system.
Hedy Lamarr was a famous actress during the Golden Age of Hollywood, but she was also an inventor. She helped create the earliest version of Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS during World War II when she helped to discover a way of frequency hopping to prevent radio jamming from enemy ships.
Williamina Fleming was a Scottish immigrant who took up work as a maid in the house a Harvard professor. His wife noticed she was very intelligent and recommended he give her a job in the Harvard College Observatory. Williamina would then become one of the founding members of the Harvard Computers, an all-female team who classified stars and made mathematical computations.
Women never stop making history. Let’s never stop learning about it.
